Piper is the heart and soul of our household. She is a wonderful companion in the home, preferring to be by her people and involved in whatever is happening. She’s very easy-going and outstanding with kids and other dogs. In the field, she’s a thoughtful, methodical worker who excels at tracking game. She hunts at a medium range suitable for the terrain: around 100-150 yards in open country with big sweeps out to likely bird cover. Her favorite part of hunting is retrieving shot birds to hand; in fact, she frequently fetches dead or wounded birds that other hunters have left behind. She’s truly a joy to be around, whether we’re flopped on the couch or spending a hard day afield.

Piper’s cooperation and consistency has allowed her to truly excel in hunt tests. She is the only Deutsch Langhaar to receive the top titles in the three major testing organizations: JGHV, NAVHDA, and AKC. She received her VGP prize 1 in 2020, her AKC Senior and Master Hunter titles in 2021, and passed the NAVHDA Invitational in 2021 making her just the second Deutsch Langhaar to earn the title of Versatile Champion.
